A heated injection system for a microprocessor-controlled GC has been developed for the (GC)2 analysis of the volatile phase of whole smoke of a cigarette. Effects of injection port temperature and the presence of a Cambridge filter pad are demonstrated. Chromatograms are shown for smoke samples with and without a Cambridge Filter with the sample valve oven at 25°, 165° and 205°C. A new method combining three-dimensional (3D) force measurements in an optical trap with the analysis of thermally induced (Brownian) position fluctuations of a trapped probe was used to investigate the mechanical properties of a single molecule, the molecular motor kinesin. One kinesin molecule attached to the probe was bound in a rigorlike state to one microtubule. The optical trap was kept weak to measure the thermal forces acting on the probe, which were mainly counterbalanced by the kinesin tether. The stiffness of kinesin during stretching and compression with respect to its backbone axis were measured. Our results indicate that a section of kinesin close to the motor domain is the dominating element in the flexibility of the motor structure. The experiments demonstrate the power of 3D thermal fluctuation analysis to characterize mechanical properties of individual motor proteins and indicate its usefulness to study single molecule in general 相似文献

Silica-polyimide microcomposite membranes were prepared on γ-alumina-coated α-alumina support tubes, and their gas permeation properties were evaluated with He, N2 and CO2. Smoothing of the substrate surface and hybridization of silica and polyamic acid were both effective to form defect-free thin composite membranes. The CO2 permeance of a membrane with a silica content of 68 wt% was one order of magnitude higher than that of a polyimide membrane having the same thickness. The permselectivity of CO2 to N2 was 30 at 30°C and 13 at 100°C. Contributions of the silica and polyimide phases to permeance of the composite membrane were analyzed with a two-phase permeation model. The effective thickness of the rate-controlling polyimide phase was less than one-tenth of the total thickness of the silica-polyimide membrane. 相似文献

Capillary columns of 0.3-0.5 mm i.d. packed with 3- to 30-μm silica-based stationary phases for liquid chromatography were used for gas chromatographic separation of hydrocarbons. Column efficiencies were evaluated for various commercially available packing material. The best column efficiency was achieved with 5-μm octadecyl group bonded silica gel, the surface of which was coated with a poly (dimethylsiloxane) film. Summary This paper reports measurements of the current characteristics and of the signal corresponding to a constant concentration of Freon F-11 for an electron-capture detector, supplied with a pulse voltage with a changeable pulse duration, amplitude and repetition time. It was found that an additional voltage applied to the detector cathode increased the detector signal by about 50% and that the maximal signal was observed at 5 V. The influence of the polarized voltage on the electron caputure efficiency coefficient (p) measured with two detectors in series was demonstrated and the reliability of the sample mass calculation by means of (p) is discussed. 相似文献

We present a theoretical study of dissociative photoionization of H2 via the 1Πu symmetry in the photon energy range 30–43 eV. Our results explain the various peaks observed in the experiments below 40 eV and illustrate, in particular, the important role of the 2Πu(2pπu) ionization threshold. At higher photon energies, they suggest the existence of new resonance structures that may be associated with doubly excited states of H2 lying above the third and fourth ionization thresholds (the Q3 and Q4 resonance series). From the calculated resonance parameters, we conclude that the dominant mechanism at high photon energies should involve the Q4 (and probably higher) doubly excited states of H2. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
